About Me:

ERIC TINKLER is a native of Rose Hill, Kansas, and a 2021 graduate from Kansas State University with a Bachelor’s in Music Education. Eric is pursuing his Master’s of Music in Wind Band Conducting at the University of Kansas, under the instruction of Dr. Matthew Smith. Before this, he served as the Assistant Director of Bands with Clay Center Community Schools. In this role, Eric led instruction in 6 - 8 bands and assisted with the beginning 5th grade and HS bands. He also served as the Assistant Director for the Clay Center Municipal Band.

At the University of Kansas, Eric will serve as a conductor with the Kansas University Wind Ensemble, KU Symphonic Band, and KU University Band. Additionally, Eric serves on the graduate staff for the Kansas University Marching Jayhawks.

As a performer, Eric has served as the principal Horn of the annual Heart of America Band. Previous experience has included playing with the Manhattan Symphony Orchestra, Kansas State University Wind Ensemble, KSU Symphony Orchestra, and KSU Pride of Wildcat Land Marching Band.

Eric’s professional affiliations include Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Fraternity, the National Association for Music Education, and the Kansas Bandmasters Association. In 2020, Eric served as the President of the Tau Chapter of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia.

Upon completing his Master’s, Eric plans to return to teaching in public schools as a high school band director.
